Rose Garden Reconstruction for a Monastery-Style Hotel, Peloponnese

The hotel is housed in former monastery buildings. Historically, traditional Greek rose varieties grew in the central part of the grounds, but over time, the graft unions decayed, and the majority of them gradually perished.

Roses integrate perfectly with the hotel's traditional stone structures and are an essential part of the monastic courtyard's atmosphere. It was decided to preserve their leading role.

We selected modern, resilient varieties that nevertheless feature a traditional bloom shape and fragrance.

The roses were integrated into a planting composition of various species of sage, rosemary, lavender, scented geranium, tulbaghia, and Mexican feather grass.

Which is highly relevant for roses.

Companion plants conceal the roses' unsightly appearance, for example, in winter or if diseases and pests do happen to affect them.
