Office Garden. Glyfada, Athens

Planting design

We decided to focus on creating a balanced garden that fosters productive work—one that is not rigid in structure, yet defined in volume, and subtle in color contrast. It had to strike a balance between relaxation and concentration.

The garden is set up on two south-facing office balconies. One is accessed from the lounge area and kitchen, while the other has private access from the director's office.

Since the balconies overlook a diverse and not always attractive architectural landscape, we decided to screen this view with container plantings featuring Chilean myrtle (Luma) shrubs, Coprosma (known as the mirror plant for its glossy leaves), prostrate Tamboritha grevillea, and small Eugenia trees of the myrtle family. The goal was not to create a solid wall, but to maintain a sense of airiness between the plants.

Since the southern sun is very bright for most of the year and glares off the surrounding light-colored buildings, we decided to use pure green as the primary color of the planting scheme, while focusing on a variety of textures.

On the director's balcony, an outdoor furniture area is planned for relaxation, work, and meetings. We structured the space using large containers with Cordyline.

An office garden is a symbol of a company's status. When a company invests in creating a garden, it speaks of maturity, financial stability, and care for its staff, clients, and partners.
