Every time I talk to a scholar, I conclude that happiness is out of our reach; but when I speak with a gardener, I am convinced of the opposite.
A good gardener is a creator of beautiful forms and defined lines, an architect of woody plants. Approaching each plant, they understand its nature and see how to reveal it.
If you look at a garden that has been creatively maintained by a gardener, and yet it appears entirely natural, then they have succeeded. They have revealed the natural beauty of the plants.

Expert formative pruning of tree and shrub crowns is the foundation of a well-kept garden. Proper training of trees makes them safe and healthy. Proper annual rejuvenation of shrubs ensures they always look fresh. The key to abundant blooming and fruiting is knowing the timing and rules of pruning for each species.
A well-kept garden is not always a row of shrubs and trees with topiary pruning in the form of spheres, cubes, and pyramids. But, at the same time, a row of topiary forms does not mean the garden is well-kept.

Proper formative pruning and essential sanitary pruning of trees and shrubs are the key to a healthy, fresh, and well-kept garden.
I would like to mention topiaries in particular. They please the eye only when pruned correctly and at the right time. If, after pruning, they look like a haystack or a pile of brushwood, then it was done at the wrong time and in the wrong way.
Pollarding also looks good only when performed correctly.
When looking for a gardener, seek, above all, someone who is observant, hardworking, passionate about their work, and possesses a thirst for knowledge.
