How we wish this were so! For the profession of a gardener to be truly respected!
Everyone desires a well-maintained garden, yet not everyone understands the gardener's role in achieving this. We are often saddened by the frequent lack of respect shown to gardeners.
But even more disheartening are the unqualified individuals who call themselves gardeners, under whose care a garden survives not because of, but in spite of, their work.
A skilled gardener, when approaching each plant, understands its nature and sees how to reveal its potential.

If you look at a garden that has been creatively cared for by a gardener, and yet it appears entirely natural, then they have succeeded. They have revealed the natural beauty of the plants.
For our quote: “When looking for a gardener, seek, above all, someone observant, hardworking, passionate about their work, and possessing a thirst for knowledge”—we received many comments suggesting that we expect too much from a gardener. Yet, we still do not agree. No one else could truly be a good gardener.
